Activities

I’m on the team responsible for deploying our University’s central Linux servers and operating most Internet services running on them. Next to that, I do part-time freelancing for various customers, mainly as an Erlang/OTP developer. I also operate an instant messaging service together with Daniel Gultsch, the author of the Android app Conversations. Some years ago, I’ve initiated the Berlin XMPP Meetup with another few people, which is still running quite successfully. Since 2020, I’m a member of the XMPP Standards Foundation (XSF) (see my application for my involvement with XMPP). I’m also a member of the Individual Network Berlin. Last not least, I support the best soccer club of all time.

Software

Currently, I’m working on:

The ejabberd XMPP/SIP/MQTT server.
The eturnal STUN/TURN server.

Also, I’m the primary author/maintainer of the following software:

The Monitoring Plugins for Icinga, Nagios, and other solutions.
The NSCA-ng daemon for submitting distributed monitoring results.
The ngx_http_upload module for Nginx (used by XMPP services).
The C99-snprintf library.
The deletemail tool for non-interactive IMAP email removal.
The Cyrus2Dovecot tool for migrating from Cyrus to Dovecot.
The ZEDAT UPS Daemon (ZUPS) for UPS monitoring.
The RADIUS Plugin for the pGina credential provider.

Apart from that, I’ve contributed to a wide variety of open source projects, including the following:

The Erlang/OTP programming language and virtual machine.
The Erlang/Elixir TLS library.
The Erlang/Elixir XMPP library.
The Erlang/Elixir STUN/TURN library.
The MCabber XMPP client.
The Bcfg2 configuration management system.
The OSBF-Lua text classification and spam filter module.
The Git version control system.
The Mutt E-Mail client.
The pGina credential provider for Microsoft Windows clients.
